Shirin Shakhesi is an Iranian-Australian animator and motion graphic designer known for her evocative and visually captivating work. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Animation from the University of Melbourne, where she developed a unique style that merges digital painting, video animation, and visual storytelling. Shirin's work delves deeply into themes of cultural identity, collective memory, and personal introspection, blending elements of her Persian heritage with modern narratives that resonate across cultural lines.

Her animated films have been showcased at some of the world’s leading film festivals, including the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF), the Melbourne International Animation Film Festival (MIAF), and the Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). Through these platforms, Shirin's work has reached diverse audiences and earned acclaim for its thought-provoking narratives and emotional depth. Recognized for her ability to create stories that engage audiences with both social and philosophical themes, Shirin’s animations often encourage viewers to reflect on their own experiences and the world around them.

In addition to her solo work, Shirin has collaborated with notable artists and organizations, bringing her creative vision to a variety of multimedia projects. Through these animations, she continues to strive for immersive, expressive experiences that foster a sense of connection and encourage dialogue around identity, memory, and shared human experiences.
